Graduate & Professional School Admissions Consulting | Research Coaching

Freelance | Remote | $60 per one-hour advising session (USD)

Founded by a former UCLA faculty member and administrator, Another Degree is an independent mentorship collective specializing in graduate and professional school admissions guidance and preparation, thesis and dissertation coaching, and guidance for academic and non-academic careers. We work with individuals and institutions across disciplines. We invite experienced educators to join our curated mentor network.

About the Role

Mentors provide one-on-one virtual advising to clients preparing for graduate and professional school. Depending on your background, you may also support clients as a research/dissertation coach, career advisor, or academic editor.

This is not a sales role. We’re selectively looking for mentors who support our mission to build genuine trust and offer honest, informed, and encouraging guidance. We value experienced, empathetic education professionals who will help clients pursue ambitious goals while providing clear feedback, strategic scaffolding, and actionable next steps.

These roles are fully remote, there are no minimum hours or quotas and can be scheduled around your availability. As a newly launched company, we welcome candidates seeking a casual or part-time role, with potential for expanded hours as our operations grow.

Additional revenue opportunities

In addition to individual advising, Another Degree offers optional opportunities for mentors who enjoy creating educational content or developing learning experiences and workshops.

Mentors may propose and lead:

  • Blog series or written guides

  • YouTube or podcast segments (e.g., productivity, research tools, writing strategies)

  • Interviews or conversations with other mentors

  • Short‑form or long‑form educational videos

  • Live "flash classes" and workshops

  • Asynchronous mini‑courses

  • Downloadable resources, templates, or toolkits

Mentors with experience designing relevant workshops, courses, research opportunities, or co‑curricular programs are especially encouraged to highlight these materials. Mentors can be contracted to deliver or expand their programs through our institutional collaborations.

These opportunities are entirely optional, but they can provide additional visibility, creative freedom, and income for mentors who wish to contribute beyond individual advising sessions.

Compensation

Mentors are paid $60 (USD) for each one hour advising session. Additional compensation is available for approved content development, teaching, and curriculum development projects.
