I grew up not knowing what graduate school was. As a first-generation college student commuting to my hometown university in Buffalo, NY, I assumed education ended with a bachelor’s degree. When I learned there was more, it felt so out of reach - almost indulgent - that I imagined I’d only get to pursue a PhD if I retired early and rich. I shelved the idea and focused on completing my bachelor's degree in business administration.

But curiosity has a way of reshaping plans. Over time I discovered that advanced study isn’t just for the privileged few. It’s a powerful, personal journey that can expand your sense of purpose, sharpen your voice, and open doors you didn’t know existed.
