Making the Most of Undergraduate Research

Undergraduate research can shape the direction of a student's postgraduate life, but many students aren't aware of its broad benefits or enter a lab without a roadmap. This workshop and Q&A gives students a clear way to think about their interests, evaluate lab and research environments, and build the habits that make research productive, sustainable, and personally rewarding.

Hosted by Another Degree mentor Dr. Amy (PhD 2026, UCLA Neuroscience) and grounded in real research experience and the "hidden curriculum" of research culture, this session helps students clarify their interests, choose lab settings that match their goals, and develop skills that carry value across many professional directions: project management, boundary‑setting, communication, and strategic networking. The workshop also highlights the many ways students can contribute to science beyond the bench through data analysis, writing, collaboration, and campus leadership.
