Annika is a graduate student at the Institute for Resources, Environment and Sustainability at the University of British Columbia. She holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of California, Berkeley in Environmental Science and Food Systems. Her work is focused at the intersection of sustainability/ climate change, sociology/ geography, food systems, and education.
Annika holds research appointments in the United States, Canada, as well as in Latin America where she works on research projects that explore socio-ecological systems and place-based sustainability. Additionally, Annika has taught undergraduate courses at the University of California, Berkeley, the University of British Columbia, and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
Annika is also a Fulbright Scholar and brings a global perspective to her work, with a commitment to community-engaged research and interdisciplinary learning. She is passionate about mentoring students and emerging scholars navigating interdisciplinary fields, studying/ researching internationally, and exploring academic pathways related to climate and sustainability.
Outside academia, Annika is an outdoor educator, teaching with organizations like NOLS and Outward Bound that foster leadership, socio-emotional skills, and environmental stewardship. Whether behind a desk or the mountains, she is always eager to support others in forging their own meaningful and grounded paths.
