With over 35 years of experience in higher education, I am passionate about fostering a culture of student research and creative activity. I most recently served as Director of Student Research and Creative Activity at Christopher Newport University (CNU). I have a PhD in Medieval English literature, religion, and culture and a strong background in teaching, curriculum development, and faculty mentoring. I believe that engaging students in original and collaborative inquiry not only enhances their academic skills, but also prepares them for their future careers and civic responsibilities.
In have overseen the administration, funding, and dissemination of student research and creative projects across all disciplines. I facilitate workshops, seminars, and consultations for students and faculty on various aspects of research and creative activity, such as proposal writing, ethics, presentation skills, and publication. I have published five books, many articles, and am currently writing a two-volume historical dictionary of mysticism to be published by Bloomsbury. I am keen to work with students and faculty in all aspects of education.
