Dr. stonegarden has over a decade of experience teaching and advising thousands of students of varied backgrounds as an instructor at UCLA. He has provided one-on-one advice on research and writing samples for those aspiring to top-tier PhD programs. As a matter of his expertise working as a Legislative Analyst at LexisNexis and his training as a Political Scientist, Dr. stonegarden has also helped place hundreds of students at top law schools, including Stanford and Georgetown.


Dr. stonegarden also serves as an Academic Mentor, helping high school students around the globe prepare for the Ivy League application process. He contributes one-on-one brainstorming, writing research strategies, and editing feedback for essay competitions, including the John Locke Institute Essay, the New York Times Writing Contest, the Harvard Crimson Global Essay, the Harvard International Economics Essay, and the Marshall Economics Essay. He also guides students in Independent Summer Research Projects to develop article-length work of publishable quality. On top of guiding students through the academic process, Dr. stonegarden also has a wealth of experience in the private sector. During his own doctoral work and thereafter, Dr. stonegarden has served as a programmer, statistician, data scientist, and general adviser helping startups get off the ground and get acquired. His knowledge of current technological trends and statistical methods serves to further aid his mentees in the practical realities of developing research designs and theoretical rigor for not only those who are seeking entry into grad school, but also those who are near its end in the dissertating phase of their academic journey.
